about us

The mission of Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch is to help at-risk children and their families succeed in the name of Christ. The Ranch, established in 1952, serves more than 100 children ages 10-18 who have psychiatric, behavioral and trauma issues. While with us they have 24-hour access to on-site clinical staff including therapists, nurses, psychologists, addiction counselors, occupational therapists, and a psychiatrist. We also work with primary medical providers at each location to provide medical care for the children. They receive quality education through nationally-accredited Dakota Memorial School on-campus. Day treatment programs are offered for grades 1-12. In addition to prescribed therapy services, children can participate in our Horse Program, a National Youth Project Using Minibikes (NYPUM), and a greenhouse technology program. Dakota Family Services, our outpatient clinic, provides outpatient therapy, psychological testing, and medication management. Outpatient therapy and psychological testing is provided by licensed therapists and psychologists. Our on-staff psychiatrist provides medication management and consults with the therapists and psychologists when appropriate.
